hiring a Gas Engineering Project Engineer 2 to join the Pipeline
Project Team. They will develop, evaluate, and implement efficient
pipeline engineering project procedures to improve safety,
reliability, and efficiency of operations in various geographical
areas located throughout Southern California.This is a Hybrid role
and requires 2 days a week in office in Chatsworth,
CA.ResponsibilitiesEngineering Process and Procedure
Development
- Lead design development effort with internal and external teams
to create pipeline project procedures such as:
- Purging
- Hydrotest & Spike test
- Tie-In
- Develop pipeline engineering design including design datasheet
and MOP/MAOP restoration process.
- Create submittal forms for pipeline modification, operation
capacity change, tap application submittal, and pipeline stationing
request.Project execution and coordination
- Review client and/or Vendor documents, specifications,
datasheets, verification of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED)
calculations.
- Support clients and various project stakeholders to identify
project needs and develop project scoping documents.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with project
team members and clients. Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control
on all deliverables.Core Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise:
- Provide specialized engineering support across various natural
gas utility disciplines to address operational challenges and
develop solutions.
- Evaluate customer-owned generation equipment and assess
alternatives, standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Project Execution:
- Define project scope, budgets, and timelines. Manage end-to-end
activities to ensure successful project delivery, including
implementation of recommendations.
- Standards & Compliance:
- Interpret and apply industry codes and regulations, review
proposed changes, and contribute to internal standards.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify advancements in technology, refine workflows, and
enhance operational programs.
- Provide directions to cross-functional teams, including
contractors and sub-contractors, ensuring effective project
execution and team collaboration.
- Manage and coordinate all activities leading to the completion
of all assigned tasks/activities and achieve overall project
success.
- Train, develop, and mentor engineering team including
developing training materials.
- Solve difficult engineering problems that may require
adaptation and/or modification of standard approaches, techniques,
procedures, and criteria.QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or
similar field is required.
- Possession of a valid and active Professional Engineer (PE)
licensure in a relevant field in any US state (CA preferred), or an
ability to obtain CA PE license required.
- Experience in gas utilities and/or gas processing design
engineering.
- Experience with Gas Transmission and Distribution.
- Planning distribution work experience.
- Technical knowledge and experience in pipeline engineering and
design and understanding of applicable regulations and
standards.
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant full-time engineering
experience.
- Advanced knowledge of design and visualization software such as
AutoCAD.
- Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents; safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and logical decision-making
ability.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences in a
professional manner.
- Coachable engineer, eager to learn with self-motivation.
- Plan, direct and review the work of staff engineers.
- Ability and willingness to provide support and training to
staff engineers.
- Ability to travel as dictated by project requirements including
site visits and in-person meetings.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record is
required.
- Report to the office located in Chatsworth at a minimum of
twice a week in person.Preferred Qualifications
- Have working knowledge in CFR 49 Parts 191, 192, and 195.
- Have familiarity with ASME/ANSI B314 and B31.8 codes and
regulations.
- Possess Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification.
- Field Engineering/Construction experience preferred.
- Experience in consulting (or EPC with Design & Engineering
capability) is preferred.
- Experience working with utilities in the State of California is

Per State RequirementsSalary range for this position is $110,000 -
$140,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill,
