SUMMARYUnder general supervision, organize, coordinate, and
supervise the daily operations and activities of the production
department, possibly on multiple work shifts; and perform related
work as assigned. Ensure that cost, volume, and quality targets are
achieved in accordance with established objectives.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety Orientation - Communicate and enforce quality and safety
standards and ensure production equipment is operational. Prepare
and distribute maintenance work orders and monthly reports
including job accidents and special reports.
- Team Strategy and Management - Supervise, select, train,
assign, and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel. Maintain
and update the training matrix for employees. Recommend staffing
deployment and operating improvements in work methods, standards,
and procedures. Oversee and monitor attendance, timecards,
time-off, and performance reviews for production personnel while
collaborating with Human Resources to enforce policy and complete
disciplinary actions where needed in a Union environment.
- On-Time Delivery - Work with Buyer/Planners and Value Stream
Manager to coordinate, organize, schedule, and assign work to
production lead personnel given company priorities and needs to
ensure that daily and monthly shipping goals are attained.
- Key Performance Management - Distribute and maintain updated
DPMs, test procedures, and SOPs in the department. Prepare and
maintain first pass yield logs. Accountable for the use of KPI and
Performance Metric boards to drive identification of root cause and
corrective actions with the goal of improving operations.
Investigate and resolve assembly problems and related quality
issues, either directly or with the Team, and recommend solutions
to management.
- Process Tools Management - Maintain and recommend acquisition
or replacement of production equipment, tools, and supplies. As a
lean manufacturing organization, this position is expected to
leverage the Crane Business System (CBS) to drive sustainable
improvements through Kaizen and implementation of lean tools and
contribute quantifiable productivity savings.
- Team Player - This role will work closely with Supply Chain,
Materials Manager, Quality Department, and VP Operations to drive
adherence to SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) priorities and
ensure alignment within the organization. Support New Product
Development (NPD) efforts in conjunction with product managers and
the engineering department.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE /
QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) or more years in manufacturing and/or high volume
assembly environment including three (3) years of experience in a
supervisory role.
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Industrial, Manufacturing, or
other technical engineering field.
- Production operations, methods and techniques; equipment set
up, functions and operation procedures; procedures on inspection,
quality assurance, safety requirements and shipping practices,
methods and procedures; knowledge of basic math; hazardous
materials handling and emergency response procedures; material
management systems and inventory control procedures; principles of
supervision, training and personnel administration; computer data
entry and applicable software applications.
- Analyze, recommend, and solve problems; prepare and review
departmental reports; operate applicable computer software
programs; perform math computations quickly and accurately;
organize and complete work as scheduled; understand and follow
written and verbal instructions; select, train, assign, supervise
and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel; communicate and
work cooperatively with subordinates, departmental representatives,
management, suppliers, and vendors.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Operate a computer terminal and related software applications
programs.Salary range: $80,000 to $103,400 with 5% bonus potential.
Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience
in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities,
skills, training, and other qualifications. Compensation packages
also include comprehensive benefits, 401K contribution and match,

roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus
programs.
