Job Description:
System One is seeking an Environmental Geologist in Vernon
California for a long-term contract.
The following information aims to provide potential candidates with
a better understanding of the requirements for this role.
Responsibilities:
--- Perform various field and office tasks requiring the
application of standard geological and environmental science
principles and theories
--- Assist and conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment,
and other environmental sampling
--- Soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting,
and excavation activities
--- Supervise drillers and other subcontractors
--- Execute field projects with health and safety as the top
priority
--- Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis
(AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records,
and chain-of-custody forms
--- Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and
interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or
geochemistry
--- Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results
within the context of the geological setting
--- Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface
maps, geologic maps, and cross sections
--- Develop materials and assist in completing reports on finished
field work
--- May provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists or
environmental scientists
--- Work with project managers, using interpersonal and
organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and
budget
--- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as
may be appropriate
Skills:
--- A familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations
is preferred
--- This work requires some physical exertion such as extended
periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces;
lifting; recurring bending or similar activities
--- Work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain,
snow)
--- Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication
skills
--- Maturity in interaction and ability to operate
self-sufficiently in the field or as part of a team
Education Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 3+
years of related work experience.
Additional Information: --- Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
--- Weekly pay, benefits, & 401k offered
--- $25 - $31 an/hour
--- Long-term contract until December
