They're also awful for the water and air they reside in.By contrast, electric boats are superior in nearly every way: not only are they far more reliable and less costly to operate, but they're also quieter, quicker, and cleaner, with no fumes or pollutants. However, they've been held back by both the technology and the talent to make them truly competitive with gas alternatives. We pride ourselves on transparency and operate in a lean, high-trust environment that encourages everyone to take ownership over their domain.You will be a full-time member of our Software Engineering team and will work from our manufacturing facility in Torrance, CA. Given that we're a startup, you will be working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment that requires adaptability. That said, here are some responsibilities and qualifications we expect to stay relatively constant for this role.Core responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems powering our boat infotainment systems and mobile app
• Building and optimizing data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and visualizing boat telemetry data
• Developing internal tools to improve our manufacturing processes
• Managing cloud resources and infrastructure
• Identifying opportunities to use software to accelerate the company's trajectoryBasic qualifications
• At least 5 years of industry experience with expertise in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Typescript, Python, Java, Go, Rust)
• Experience overseeing technical projects, including communicating with stakeholders, prioritizing high ROI features, driving towards a technical vision, and delegating workscope
• Proficiency with at least one cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps best practices
• Deep understanding of API design and microservices architecture
• Demonstrated ability to optimize backend systems for performance, cost, and scale
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Excellent grasp of the fundamentals of software engineering and passion for developing high quality, maintainable softwareBonus qualifications
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Familiarity with data processing and analytics tools (e.g. BigQuery, Apache Spark, Kafka)
• Experience with an Infrastructure as Code framework such as Terraform
• Experience with real-time data processing and IoT systems
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and tools such as manufacturing execution systems (MESs)
