invite to join our growing team.Job Description:We are seeking a
highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in Power
Systems to join our team. The successful candidate will be
responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical
systems and components to required specifications, focusing on
power systems.Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems and components, focusing
on power systems
- Conduct research to determine the best materials and methods
for electrical systems and components
- Develop and maintain electrical systems and components to
required specifications
- Collaborate with other engineers and professionals to design
and implement electrical systems and components
- Provide technical support and guidance to other engineers and
professionals
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental
regulations
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and advancements in
electrical engineering
- Perform power system modelling and studies in compliance with
applicable industry standards using PSS/E, PSLF, ETAP, ASPEN,
PSCAD. Types of studies include:
- Power flow
- Transient and dynamic analysis
- Short circuit
- Harmonic analysis
- Insulation coordination
- Transmission planning
- Load and generation interconnection
- Integration of renewables
- Distribution network optimization
- Prepare study reports. In conducting the studies and preparing
the study report, you will:
- Read and clearly understand the scope of the studies.
- Prepare any Requests for Information (RFIs) as required to
complete the studies.
- Develop and compare technical solutions for projects and
prepare comprehensive study reports. The study report will clearly
document the study scope, inputs, results, conclusions, and
recommendations.
- Obtain approval from the Power System Studies Team Lead to
issue the completed report.
- Participate in meetings with the client to initially kick off
the project, review project progress and present results and
recommendations when the study is completed.
- Manage time, scope and budget of assigned projects.
- Assist/Lead technical proposal development for studies
opportunities.
- Participate in business development, client relations,
technical proposal preparation, as well as managing and overseeing
technical teams in the delivery of detailed power system studies
projects.
- Provide project technical support, including developing study
methodology, optimizing delivery of services and preparation, final
review, implementing quality control, and issuing of reports.
- Assist with Business Development efforts, including
contribution to marketing material, project proposal methodology
and logistics, fostering client relationships, innovative power
systems studies and techniques research, technical conferences,
etc.
- Provide technical guidance to team members and assist in
technical training development.Requirements (Minimum
Qualification):
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related
field
- Professional Engineering License P.E. (Professional Engineer)
required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering,
with a focus on power systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and
practices
- Experience with electrical design software and tools
- Understanding of electrical power system and power electronics
theory
- Expert level experience in power system studies conducting
power flow and dynamic stability studies along with proven
experience in other aspects of power transmission, distribution
and/or generation.
- Familiarity with Electrical Engineering codes and Safety
Standards.
- Deep understanding of electrical manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Experience with project management and leadership
- Experience with protection settings and coordination.
- Proficiency in performing cable ampacity calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in identifying, creating, and designing
drawings.
- Experience authoring routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to conduct AC network reduction and dynamic performance
studies.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
- Exceptional written and presentational communication
skills.Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering Ph.D. Preferred.
- Expert understanding of North American power systems,
associated standards and regulations such as NERC TPL
standards.
- Knowledge of design and visualization software, such as AutoCAD
and AVEVA E3D.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Experience with other power system simulation tools such as
ETAP, ASPEN, EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT, PSCAD.
- Experience working with Revit and Bluebeam.WHY OVER J?At Over
