Job Description:
The Quality Assurance Nurse (QAN) is responsible for evaluating,
monitoring, and improving the quality of patient care within the
hospital. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards,
oversees quality improvement initiatives, and prepares reports for
leadership and regulatory bodies. The QAN collaborates with
multidisciplinary teams to maintain the highest standards of

positionsEssential DutiesQuality Monitoring and EvaluationConduct
routine audits of clinical practices to ensure adherence to
established protocols.Identify trends, gaps, and areas for
improvement in patient care and safety.Develop and implement
corrective action plans in collaboration with clinical
teams.Compliance ReportingPrepare and submit timely reports to
regulatory agencies, including CMS, CDPH, and state health
departments as applicable.Ensure all documentation meets standards
set by accreditation bodies and government regulations.Monitor
changes in healthcare regulations and communicate updates to
relevant teams.Data Analysis and ReportingCollect and analyze data
related to patient outcomes, infections, and adverse events.Create
dashboards and detailed reports for leadership to facilitate
data-driven decision-making.Present findings and recommendations
during quality committee meetings.Performance Improvement
InitiativesLead quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing
patient outcomes and operational efficiency.Provide education and
training to staff on quality assurance and process improvement
methodologies.Facilitate root cause analyses (RCAs) and failure
mode and effect analyses (FMEAs) as necessary.Interdisciplinary
CollaborationWork closely with clinical staff, department heads,
and hospital leadership to promote a culture of safety and
quality.Serve as a liaison between the hospital and external
agencies during inspections and surveys.Policy and Procedure
DevelopmentAssist in developing, reviewing, and updating hospital
policies and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory
requirements.Ensure that clinical staff are informed of and comply
with updated policies.Education and TrainingConduct training
sessions on quality metrics, compliance requirements, and safety
standards.Mentor staff on quality improvement techniques and the
use of reporting tools.Education/ExperienceBachelor's degree in
nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in nursing or healthcare
administration preferred.Active RN license in the state of
California.Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience; prior
experience in quality assurance or performance improvement
preferred.Certified Professional in Healthcare of Quality (CPHQ) or
similar certification preferred.Strong analytical and critical
thinking skills.Proficiency in quality improvement tools such as
NHSN databases as well as Athena and Point Click Care EMR
systems.Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including CMS, CDPH,
and LA County.Working ConditionsPrimarily works in an office
setting within the hospital but may occasionally visit clinical
areas for audits or trainings.May require occasional travel for
training and conferences.Key CompetenciesDetail-oriented with a

teams without direct authority.Proactive in identifying issues and
