but also for the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food
industries.Main Position Objectives:
- The Mechanical Designer provides the highest quality design and
technical support for the Maag family of equipment to include:
plastic pelletizing systems. Working independently but supported by
others, the incumbent is the mechanical designer for our customer's
equipment.
- Independently reviews specifications for the project.
- Determines what items need to be sized and ordered.
- Provides customer drawings.
- Meets tight design deadlines and works OT when required.
- Leads technical discussions regarding design issues or proposed
changes, internal and external to the company.
- Completes detail designs, including but not limited to drawing
and Bill of Materials creation for shop manufacturing and
assembly.
- Works hand in hand with the Electrical Design group to ensure
accurate and consistent design expectations between the
groups.
- Works with all areas within production to ensure equipment is
designed/manufactured/assembled and shipped with the utmost quality
and with the customer's delivery always being at the forefront of
decisions.
- Develops strong relationships with all departments of the
company, not just Engineering.
- Works with suppliers to obtain information on commercial
components to be used with equipment.
- Other tasks as assigned by manager.
- The ideal candidate must be willing to work throughout the
various areas of production shop floor, including but not limited
to, Laser, Fabrication, Welding, Assembly, and Testing. It is
imperative that Engineering be familiar with how these areas
operate and what they do. This exposure will provide crucial
knowledge once the candidate begins doing actual design/engineering
work.
- Responsible for the organization and compilation of project
specific documentation that is to be supplied to both internal and
external Customers, including support with this documentation
post-shipment of projects.
- Occasional documentation maintenance may be required, regarding
updating existing operating instructions, developing new operating
instructions, etc. This would also include Standard Operating
Procedures, Work Instructions, etc.Work Environment: Work in this
position is in an office and a factory floor environment, either
locally or at a customer site. While performing the duties of this
job in a factory setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or
airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The
noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and
PPE may be required.Physical Requirements:

and ability to adjust focus.Job SpecificationEducation:
- An Associate's Degree or higher in mechanical design (or
equivalent/comparable work experience).
- 3D CAD software experience.
- Technical training with sheet metal design, machine shop
functions, electric motors, gears/mechanical devices.Professional
Experience:
- 3D CAD Design experience (preferably sheet metal).
- Bill of Material creation/interaction.
- Exposed to a fabrication and/or welding shop
environment.Interpersonal Skills and Behavioral Competencies:
