Job Description:
Position: Senior Port and Terminal PlannerLocation: Los Angeles,
USASystem One is seeking an experienced Container Terminal Planner
with expertise in modernized terminal planning and operations to
join our Client's dynamic and growing USA Ports & Terminals team in
Los Angeles. The successful candidate will play a key role in some
of the most significant marine terminal developments currently
underway in North America.This role involves leading terminal
planning, optimization, and modernization initiatives within the
container terminal and rail-intermodal sectors. The candidate will
also contribute to business development activities across North
America, engaging with major terminal operators, shipping lines,
and railroads.Key Responsibilities
- Define client requirements with accuracy and clarity.
- Oversee technical teams in delivering port and terminal studies
or design documentation.
- Mentor and develop graduates in port and marine technical
competencies.
- Collaborate within virtual teams across geographies to deliver
seamless client solutions.
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure integrated
project delivery.
- Support business development initiatives by fostering client
relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Engage collaboratively with clients throughout the project
lifecycle.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality work aligned with client
standards and procedures.Functional Tasks
- Assist in identifying leads, transitioning them into
opportunities, formulating proposals, and crafting project
approaches.
- Leverage your professional network to develop new business
opportunities.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and
areas for improvement.
- Use advanced software tools to simulate and optimize terminal
operations.
- Take on project or task leadership roles, ensuring timely,
budget-conscious, and specification-compliant service
delivery.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental initiatives to foster
a "Work Safely Together" culture and minimize environmental
impact.
- Actively participate in the clients global P&T practice
through skill-sharing, collaboration, and supporting new
initiatives.
- Periodic travel may be required for extended periods.Preferred
Experience & Education
- A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management,
Maritime studies, or a related field.
- Previous experience in terminal operations, logistics, or a
related industry.
- Consulting experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in terminal operating systems and relevant
optimization software.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Minimum of 12 years of industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to engage clients effectively, synthesize
problems, and develop targeted solutions.This is an exciting
