Defense.Role Summary:Mach Industries is seeking a highly skilled
and experienced Aerodynamicist to join our dynamic engineering
team. This role involves leading the aerodynamic design and
optimization of various vehicle platforms, from air-breathing
aircraft to missiles. The ideal candidate will leverage a deep
understanding of aerodynamic principles to enhance vehicle
performance and ensure our products meet rigorous standards of
efficiency and effectiveness.Key Responsibilities:
- Aerodynamic Analysis: Conduct in-depth analyses of air flow
around objects to gain insights into aerodynamic behaviors.
- Vehicle Level Design: First principles, largely hand calc
analysis to ground vehicle design and begin the iterative process
on new programs ranging from air-breathing aircraft, high and low
speed glide vehicles, and missiles.
- Design and Optimization: Employ a balanced approach involving
hand calculations, simulation, and physical testing to optimize the
shapes of vehicles and structures, aiming to minimize drag and
improve overall efficiency.
- Vehicle Performance Enhancement: Collaborate with engineering
teams to enhance vehicle performance characteristics, including
speed, fuel efficiency, stability, and maneuverability.
- Test Campaigns: Guide real-world flight testing to benchmark
and recalibrate analysis in an iterative cycle towards shipping
product.
- Collaboration with Other Engineers: Work closely with engineers
from various disciplines, ensuring an integrated approach to design
that incorporates aerodynamic considerations.Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as an aerodynamicist.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in aerodynamic analysis and design,
preferably in an industry setting.
- Proficiency in computational tools and simulation
software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working in
interdisciplinary teams.Preferred Qualifications:
- Mastery of tools such as missile datcom, xfoil, open vsp,
xflr5, star-ccm+, ansys fluent.
- Hands-on experience in a startup or defense sector
environment.
- Proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary engineering
projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.Ideal
