With limited supervision, the Senior HR Compliance Specialist
provides HR compliance and consultation services related to local,
state and federal laws and regulations, HR policies and procedures,
equal employment opportunity requirements, employment litigation,
federal and state employment laws and regulations, and/or other
compliance or regulatory matters.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Promotes compliance with
applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations by leading
through influence, providing consultative and/or investigation
services and serving as a resource to other departments and the
organization's management regarding employment law, HR policies
and/or other compliance and regulatory matters. Coordinates and
works collaboratively with Human Resources, appropriate departments
and related stakeholders.
Develops and implements Human Resources policies and procedures,
including drafting new policies and updating existing policies.
Work to continuously improve and provide recommendations regarding
compliance related policies, procedures and/or processes across the
organization. Drafts and reviews related internal and external
communications.
Supports the reduction of the organizations exposure to legal risk
by developing and contributing to training programs or educational
materials for Human Resources and organizational leadership.
Leads or participates in special projects related to either
departmental and/or organization needs as assigned.
HR Compliance Conducts complex investigations into Equal Employment
Opportunity (EEO), wage-hour, policy violations and/or other
employment-related issues.
Conducts witness interviews, compile and review relevant
documentation, analyze evidence, prepare reports and summaries, and
provide appropriate recommendations and guidance to management.
Under the guidance of leadership, investigate and respond to
government agency complaints, such as from the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Fair Employment and
Housing (DFEH), Department of Labor (DOL), and Division of Labor
Standards Enforcement (DLSE).
In consultation with leadership, serves as the organization's
representative and manage, develop and implement all phases of
assigned employment litigation matters and/or investigations,
including but not limited to gathering, preserving and developing
evidence, witness interviews, discovery, document preparation,
depositions, mediation, and/or arbitration/trial. This includes
working with outside counsel, vendors and other resources on
strategy and preparation of litigation cases. Also utilizes
techniques for gathering information that enhances clarity and
reliability.
Provide stakeholders with information about the investigatory
process and applicable rights and policies. Maintain timely
communication with all involved parties and key stakeholders.
Visa & Immigration Compliance Oversees and administers the
immigration programs, including functioning as the primary
Designated Official for the program.
Support other non-immigration and immigration related matters as
necessary, including maintenance of I-9 compliance and other
administrative items.
In collaboration with leadership, facilitates and oversees various
external resources throughout all phases of the immigration
process. This includes outside counsel, vendors and other resources
in the review, discovery, strategy and administration of
immigration programs and other immigration related matters.
Compensation Oversees and administers wage and hour projects across
the organization.
Influences and provides consultative services to advise, plan and
implement wage and hour programs, including Alternative Work
Schedule arrangements, in accordance/alignment with local, state
and federal wage and hour laws and regulations.
Works cross functionally to influence and guide clients towards
solutions that meet wage and hour rules, while bringing alignment
with business and operational needs.
Teamwork/Customer Relation Responsibilities Represents the company

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level Education Details
Bachelor's Degree Human Resources or a related field or Doctorate
Degree Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree of Law
Work Experience
5-7 years Compliance, Human Resources, Litigation and/or other
Legal Experience
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Regulatory - Ability to interpret
and apply knowledge of State, Federal and Agency standards to
comply with regulations
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations,
including leave and disability laws, wage and hour regulations and
EEO.
Ability to use discretion and maintain privacy, confidentiality or
anonymity
Ability to demonstrates problem solving skills and recommends
solutions
Communication - Ability to communicate expectations and priorities,
and clarify roles and responsibilities
Project Management - Ability to initiate, plan, design, execute,
and monitor project(s)
Communication - Ability to convey and/or receive written/verbal
information to/from various audiences in different formats
Ability to apply critical thinking to analyze and interpret
information and/or data
Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Attorney in California Upon Hire
