The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will report directly to the Nursing Manager of Medical Surgical Services. The Charge Nurse of Medical Surgical will manage the units day to day clinical operations including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will ensure the highest quality of care is provided and is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and established departmental policies and procedures.
The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will develop and implement action plans to improve staff development. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will supervise a single unit of approximately 20+ employees. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will monitor the allocation and utilization of personnel based on continual changes in patient population/needs and provides the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities.
The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will supervise the daily unit operations, including human resources management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will monitor the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level. Ensures coordinated plans of treatment, customer focused care and cost effective utilization of services.
The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will work with health care providers outside of the unit, to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will research, identify, and implement best practice models of other units. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will investigate and resolve patient/family member concerns regarding patient care. The Charge Nurse RN of Medical Surgical will assist the Nurse Manager of Medical Surgical Services with managing day to day operations, efficient patient flow, improving core measures, employee satisfaction, performance improvement, and staff development.
