Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Reporting to the
Director of the Writing Program and the Dean of Faculty, the
Writing Associate will help faculty in the Core Program to support
writing in their courses through workshops and individualized
consultations, amongst other support roles.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:This information is
intended to be a descriptive of the key responsibilities of the
position.The list of essential functions below does not identify

position.Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work with faculty in the first-year Core Program in
Interdisciplinary Humanities to support writing in their courses
through workshops and individualized consultations, including
strategies for planning and scaffolding assignments, integrating
peer review, revision, and reflection, considering academic
integrity and generative AI, and providing feedback on student
work.
- In collaboration with interested faculty in Core and throughout
the College, plan, deliver, and assess in- and out-of-class student
workshops on a range of topics, including brainstorming ideas,
arriving at workable topics, integrating peer review, and
incorporating feedback to promote revision.
- Plan, deliver, and assess student workshops and write-ins on
personal statements.
- Provide one-on-one consultations for multilingual students as
well as students and post-bacs working on personal statements for
graduate school and fellowships
- Support Writing Center activities, including creating and
updating Writing Center schedule, tracking appointments, offering
workshops to support undergraduate peer tutor training, and
creating Scripps-specific student handouts.
- Assess Writing Program activities, including creating and
updating Writing Associate appointment calendar, tracking
attendance at Writing Associate-led workshops and events, and
tracking and evaluating student usage of Writing Center and Writing
Fellow appointments.
- Collaborate with offices on campus, including Claremont
Colleges and Denison Libraries, Career Planning & Development,
Scripps Communities of Resources and Empowerment, to create
workshops, write-ins, and other activities to foster a culture of
writing across the College.

skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential

and/or confidential matters.
- Experience teaching undergraduate students

goals.QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:MFA degree in
Writing or relevant field, orany combination ofeducation, training
or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and
ability.LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:None.OTHER:HOURS & CLASSIFICATION
AND STATUS:This is a temporary status, part-time (no more than 30
hours per week), non-benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.The
regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday from 10 am to 4
pm. This positions may be required to work some evenings and
occasional weekends.This position is expected to end on or before
June 1, 2025. This assignment may be extended upon mutual agreement
by both parties.Hourly rate range: $25.00-$29.00. The hourly rate
of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a
variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity,
experience, education, specialty, andtraining.SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITY:None.Work EnvironmentThe work environment
