Job Description:
The Fund Controller much have the ability to comprehend, analyze,
and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to
respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write
reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.
Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex
topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups.
Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees,
top management, and client groups to take desired action. Requires
in-depth knowledge of financial terms, principles and compliance.
Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and
prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the
preparation of reports. Ability to solve advanced problems and deal
with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert
level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in
developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based
multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others
and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the
company.
Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e.
Microsoft Office Suite Products). Ability to work in multiple
accounting software applications. Manages multiple fund accounting
teams to provide accurate and timely client reporting for assigned
portfolios of investment funds. Implements processes to ensure
compliance with reporting requirements. Manages client
relationships for various funds. Plays a key role in the
implementation and maintenance of the accounting systems. Reviews
and analyzes scope of service changes from team managers and prices
additional services based on in-depth knowledge of the department's
pricing platform. Identifies and recommends consulting
opportunities and/or scope of service changes. Creates pricing
estimates for new business opportunities. Ensures monthly pricing
allocations are accurately entered into PeopleSoft. Assists Senior
Management with implementation of strategic department and
corporate initiatives. Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures
internal and external customer requests are handled timely,
accurately and with a focus on customer service. Creates a positive
customer experience by opening and maintaining constructive and
reliable lines of communication. Participates and/or leads all
aspects of internal and external property and client transitions.
Works with other internal teams in handling special requirements as
defined in the Management Agreement and scope of services in the
Financial Services Agreement.
Verifies and ensures accounting team's debt, real estate tax, sales
tax and owner distribution payments are made timely and internal
databases are updated and maintained accordingly. Functions as a
single point of contact for the fund investors. Plays a key role in
the implementation and maintenance of the accounting systems. May
participate in new business proposals. May review staff work
products, including financial packages, to ensure their complete,
accurate and timely release to internal departments and external
clients. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides formal
supervision to individual employees within single functional or
operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff
recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action
and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to
next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors
appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including
overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff.
Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies.
Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the
company's values. Decisions made with in-depth understanding and
interpretation of procedures, company policies and business
practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting
department deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact
to co-workers, supervisor, department and/or line of business.
Degree from a four-year college or university program with an
emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. A
minimum of 10 years accounting experience or equivalent combination
of education and experience required. Prior experience in fund
level accounting required with real estate accounting or fund
accounting software systems. Requires prior supervisory experience
and experience with real estate accounting or fund accounting
software systems. CPA, CMA or other relevant professional
certifications a plus.
