1Summary:The People Concern is launching an affiliate organization,
TPC Homes, focused on housing development, ownership, and
operations. We are committed to adding to the supply and improving
the management of affordable and permanent supportive housing for
individuals who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing,
homelessness through innovative approaches to partnerships,
finance, and construction. We are looking for a Sr. Finance Manager
to oversee the daily financial operations of TPC Homes. The Sr.
Finance Manager will have the opportunity to work directly with
senior TPC Homes leadership and other members of the development
and property management teams to build out the new organization,
contribute to decisions around strategic direction, and develop
best practices and standards for accounting and financial
operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily financial operations of TPC Homes, including
ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, payroll
processing, managing month- and year-end closeouts, preparing and
reviewing financial statements, processing and maintaining accurate
records of financial transactions (owner distributions,
construction draws, debt service), and performing financial audits
to ensure compliance with regulations and internal controls.
- Develop corporate-level modeling, annual budgets, and
projections for TPC Homes and conduct financial analysis to provide
insight and reports to support decision-making.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures and
integrate financial information with the larger organization.
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital for owned and
managed properties.
- Manage bank accounts, financial statements, and compliance
items for numerous interconnected entities.
- Handle compliance and reporting requirements and requests of
funding providers and partners.Required Qualifications:
- Minimum five years related residential real estate accounting
experience with a solid understanding of related financial
accounting principles, including revenue recognition, expense
allocation, and asset valuation. Candidates should have the ability
to successfully manage organization financial operations with
minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret financial reports and analyze data for
trends and insights.
- Ability to clearly communicate and synthesize complex financial
information for senior leadership and outside parties.
- Experience in conducting financial audits and ensuring
compliance with regulations.
- Proficiency in using accounting software for data entry,
reconciliation, and reporting purposes, preferably QuickBooks,
Yardi, and AppFolio.
- High level of comfort in joining a new organization without
established processes and procedures.Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with affordable and/or permanent supportive
housing and related public funding sources, such as government
loans and tax credits.
- Experience working in both property management and real estate
ownership/asset management.
- Certified public accountant.
- BA preferred but not required.Working Conditions:
- Field (may need to travel) and indoor office environment. Based
primarily in Arlington HQ.
- Required to be in-office at least four days/week.
- Will be required to walk or drive to different local sites and
events (Southern California area).
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and occasionally lift
or carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- Will necessitate working in busy, dusty, and loud environments
around our unhoused clients at times, including parking in and near
their current areas of residence.
- Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise, and
odor and other potential visual situations of this industry
(homeless clients, skid row population, substance users,
etc.).
- May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the
